SANTA BABY, PUT A NOVEL UNDER THE TREE

Happy ChristmasWhat would YOU like Santa to leave under the tree, apart from a food hamper and an army of staff to serve Christmas dinner for you? Maybe a nice armchair to curl up in with a good book . . .

Talking of which – here is the latest selection from The New Romantics 4: BOOT CAMP BRIDE, A CHANGE OF HEART, 20’s GIRL, THE GHOST AND ALL THAT JAZZ, TWINS OF A GAZELLE.

Boot Camp Bride by Lizzie Lamb

Boot Camp BrideTake an up-for-anything reporter.  Add a world-weary photo-journalist.  Put them together . . . light the blue touch paper and stand well back!

Posing as a bride-to-be, Charlee Montague goes undercover at a boot camp for brides in order to photograph supermodel Anastasia Markova. At Charlee’s side and posing as her fiancé, is Rafael Ffinch award winning photographer and survivor of a kidnap attempt in Columbia. He’s in no mood to cut inexperienced Charlee any slack and has made it plain that once the investigation is over, their partnership – and fake engagement – will be terminated, too.

Soon Charlee has more questions than answers.

What’s the real reason behind Ffinch’s interest in the boot camp? How is it connected to his kidnap in Columbia?

In setting out to uncover the truth, Charlee puts herself in danger. And, as the investigation draws to a close, she wonders if she’ll be able to hand back the engagement ring and walk away from Rafa without a backward glance.

Twins of a Gazelle by Margaret Cullingford

Twins of a Gazelle Only fifteen months since her low-key wedding, anxious, lonely, Calista Blake begins to realize she should have followed her instinct and not been persuaded when Adam Burgess sweet-talked her into marrying him.  Feeling guilt for what she believes was her role in the break-up of his first marriage, she suspects Adam goes along with the premise, marry your mistress, you create a vacancy.   She hopes their holiday on the magical Greek island of Ithaca will banish her disenchantment. Instead there Calista is spellbound by P.J. Wood – ‘I take photographs. Tell stories . . . True ones. . . . Where-ever there’s trouble.’  Meeting P.J. added to what Adam reveals when she questions him,  makes Calista’s previous angst seem mild compared with the cauldron of trouble she falls into, the consequences of meeting P.J. Wood.

Read TWINS OF A GAZELLE to discover how Calista resolves her dilemma.

The Twenties Girl, The Ghost, and All That Jazz by June Kearns

Haunted by a psychic cat, and the ghost voice of her aunt Leonie, Gerry feels driven to travel thousands of miles to see the ranch for herself.

Against a backdrop of big sky, cattle barons and oil wells, she is soon engaged in a game of power, pride and ultimately, love, with the Texan who owns the other half.

  1. I would like to find a new body, one that didn’t creak as much as the one I have!

    • Hi Brenda, that sounds like a good wish to us as we sit hunched over the keyboard. We keep thinking we might have to resort to WD40 to sort out our creaking joints. Wonder if it’d work. Hmmmmm. (Lizzie)

  2. Hmmm – it’s a tough call but Heathcliff would be nice! xxx

    • Shani, we’ll see what we can do. Although, I suppose all that brooding might be a bit wearing and I can’t see Heathcliff laughing at the jokes in the crackers. Although, we rather suspect you might have another use for him. LOL. (Lizzie)

  3. No idea which one I’ll choose, but choose I will!

    • Ann, we have every faith in you. Its nice to be spoiled for choice, isn’t it? Not sure which one I would choose either, come to that. Not much point in reading Boot Camp Bride as I know what’s coming next. Ha Ha. (Lizzie)

  4. Lorraine Farrow

Aladins Lamp would be most welcome xmas morning under my tree. One quick rub and out pops the Genie with a remarkable likeness to Micheal Buble. Ohhh what I could do with those three wishes………..cooking, washing up, maybe a song then………….;)

    • Lorraine, that is quite some dream ! But we all have to have our dreams, don’t we? Sounds like poor old Michael would be worn out – maybe a mince pie might revive him. LOL. (LIzzie)

  5. Put a novel under the tree or three! Too many good choices! Guess that means I’ll simply have to buy and read them all. 🙂 Thank you, ladies, for providing humor, wisdom, healing, and sanity to those too cheap to pay for therapy. Keep writing and Merry Christmas!

  6. Put a novel under the tree or three! Too many good choices! Guess that means I’ll simply have to buy and read them all. 🙂 Thank you, ladies, for providing humor, wisdom, healing, and sanity to those too cheap to pay for therapy. Merry Christmas!

    • Hi there, reading is the best therapy I know. Very much like the idea of your buying and reading all of them (LOL). A difficult choice as you say so thank you for stopping by and joining in the Christmas fun! (Lizzie)

  7. The trouble with fur great options, how would you choose? Thanks for the great giveaway, ladies, and best wishes.

    • Hello Sherry, I know – all four books (or eight if you count our first novels) have their own appeal. Hmmm, a difficult one. Thanks for commenting. (Lizzie)

  8. I would like too see a Kindle under my tree so I can finally take my books everywhere!!!!
    Thanks

    Toni
    Awesome giveaway.

  9. I would love too see a Kindle under my tree so I can take my books everywhere right now I only have the Kindle for PC.
    Thanks
    Toni

    • Hi Toni, I think everyone would like a Kindle for its practicality – even if we still love the feel of a ‘dead tree book’. Thanks for commenting and joining in the fun. (Lizzie)

  10. im still trying to win giftcards for a kindle fire hd…that’s what I want under my tree this year 🙂

    • Oh, good luck with that Amy. I read on a very ancient kindle or my iPad (quite heavy in bed), so I might ask Santa for the very same thing. Good luck in the draw. (Lizzie)

  11. I’d like a note under the tree which would read:
Merry Christmas, Darling, I’ve peeled all the sprouts, basted the turkey and laid the table. Here’s a glass of champagne, I’ve run you a bath and I’ll call you when your scrambled egg and smoked salmon is ready, yours lovingly George Clooney. PS I’ve forgotten to bring any clothes, so I’m just wearing your apron.
    *sigh*
Ladies, best of luck with all your lovely books, and even if I don’t win, I so enjoyed typing that!

    • Cathy, we certainly enjoyed reading it. I’ve come all over ‘dithery’ at the thought of Gorgeous George making my Christmas dinner. I think that apron would soon become redundant. LOL Thank you for your comment about our books, too. Most appreciated by us. (Lizzie)

  12. Idris Elba would be nice 😉

    • Oo, Shaz, there might be unseemly fight if Mr Idris Alba was under our tree. I loved him in The WIRE and LUTHER. Can’t wait to see him as Nelson Mandela. Be a good girl, and you just never know . . . (Lizzie)

  13. I’d like to find a publishing deal under my tree but I suppose I’d better get back to my rewrite before that’s likely to happen. BTW, I really admire you four gutsy ladies for self-publishing and may come to you for advice some time next year.

    • Anne, feel free to ask. We’ve been in your position and we thought we’d forge our own way forward. Maybe when we’ve got two or three books under our belt at stats to show how well they’ve sold we MIGHT approach an agent. But it will be a case of ‘what can you offer me that’s better than what I already have?” Good luck with the rewrites and we’ll see if we send an agent your way. (Lizzie)

  14. Margaret Cullingford

Now I know I can’t enter the draw, but right now I’d like to find an airline ticket (now the ‘small’ problem with air traffic control seems to be fixed) to some far away place with a strange sounding name where it’s hot, hot, hot. Come on now let’s hear some more.

    • Mags, I’d love to travel but I hate all the airport malarky. Until they invent a machine that whisk you there in an instant, I guess I’m stuck in Leicester. (Lizzie)

  15. Margaret Cullingford

Know what you mean, Lizzie. I much prefer trains.

  16. Well this is where you all are dreaming away, making Christmas wishes …sigh! Now, let me see, champagne (check), someone dishy to snuggle up with – human and furry friends (check), sable (or mink) for when it gets chilly (check), diamonds (stars will do fine, check), log fire (check), great books and great mates (check). – well seems like I’m all sorted in the wishes department, nope …silly me, wishing my work was done so I could get on with next novel and wishing you all everything you wish yourselves!

  17. I am absolutely certain that Adrienne has Talldarkandkilted in the form of Bryan Ferry ready wrapped for me !!

    • Oh, Beverley, I like what you did there. Two fantasies for the price of one !!

      • Much as I love you guys, if I could wrap,Bryan Ferry up for Christmas he’s one pressie I would not be sharing. Feel free to schmooz as many other ‘dream’ boats as you please …but nope there’ll only be room for him on my piano stool. Mind you Pearce Brosnan is in the kitchen mixing the cocktails …

  18. Thank you for all your clever and witty entries. The winner has been chosen and notified. Have a great Christmas and we hope Santa brings you your heart’s desire.
